FAQs on WEIGHT LOSS
GLP-1 Medications
1. What are GLP-1 medications?
GLP-1 (Glucagon-like peptide-1) medications are a class of drugs primarily used for managing type 2 diabetes and, more recently, for weight loss. They mimic the action of GLP-1, a hormone involved in blood sugar regulation and appetite control.
2. How do GLP-1 medications work?
GLP-1 medications work by enhancing the release of insulin in response to high blood sugars, slowing down gastric emptying, reducing the release of glucagon (a hormone that raises blood sugar levels), and promoting a feeling of fullness, which can lead to reduced food intake and weight loss.
3. What conditions are GLP-1 medications used to treat?
While GLP-1 medications are primarily used to manage type 2 diabetes, they are also prescribed for weight loss in individuals with obesity or overweight.
4. Are there any common side effects associated with GLP-1 medications?
Yes, common side effects may include gastrointestinal issues such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, and constipation. There can also be a risk of more serious side effects like pancreatitis, kidney problems, and gallbladder issues, although these are less common.
5. Can everyone use GLP-1 medications for weight loss or diabetes management?
No, GLP-1 medications are not suitable for everyone. Their use should be evaluated by a healthcare provider based on individual health conditions, potential drug interactions, and the presence of any contraindications, such as a history of certain types of thyroid cancer or pancreatitis.
6. How are GLP-1 medications administered?
Most GLP-1 medications are administered via injection under the skin (subcutaneously). The frequency of injections varies by specific medication, ranging from daily to once weekly.
7. Are GLP-1 medications considered safe for long-term use?
GLP-1 medications have been studied in long-term clinical trials and are generally considered safe for chronic use under medical supervision. However, as with any medication, ongoing monitoring for side effects or complications is necessary. It's important to consult with a healthcare professional to determine if GLP-1 medications are appropriate for your individual health needs and circumstances.

Good Faith Estimate
Effective January 1, 2023, you are entitled to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” of what charges could be for psychotherapy services provided to you. While it is not possible for a psychotherapist to know in advance how many psychotherapy sessions may be necessary or appropriate for a given person, this form provides an estimate of the cost of services provided. Your total cost of services will depend upon the number of psychotherapy sessions you attend, your individual circumstances, and the type and amount of services that are provided to you. This estimate is not a contract and does not obligate you to obtain any services from the provider.
The Good Faith Estimate is not intended to serve as a recommendation for treatment or a prediction that you may need to attend a specified number of psychotherapy visits. The number of visits that are appropriate in your case, and the estimated cost for those services, depend on your needs and what you agree to in consultation with your therapist. You are entitled to disagree with any recommendations made to you concerning your treatment, and you may discontinue treatment at any time.
If you are paying for services privately or out of pocket, a Good Faith Estimate of the costs you may incur for psychotherapy services will be provided to you prior to your initial appointment.

Understanding Menopause and Its Phases
As women transition through the phases of menopause, from peri-menopause to post-menopause, their bodies experience significant hormonal changes. These changes can impact overall health, mood, energy levels, and nutritional needs, making this a critical time for awareness and adjustment.
The Role of Nutrition and Supplementation
Nutritional health and supplementation are crucial during menopause. They not only help alleviate uncomfortable symptoms but also support long-term health objectives like maintaining bone density, promoting heart health, and managing weight. A thoughtful approach to nutrition can significantly influence well-being during this period.
Personalized Nutritional Strategies
A well-considered nutritional strategy can mitigate some challenges associated with menopause and enhance quality of life. To assist you in this journey, we offer a 15-minute free consultation designed to create a personalized pathway for managing the nutritional aspects of peri-menopause and menopause effectively.
Here's An Brief Overview Of Our Process:
Understand Your Needs:
The consultation begins with a brief discussion about your current symptoms, health concerns, and dietary habits. This helps us get a clearer picture of your personal experience with menopause and any specific challenges you're facing.

This could involve dietary suggestions aimed at alleviating common menopausal symptoms, such as hot flashes, sleep disturbances, or mood fluctuations. We'll also discuss how to maintain a balanced diet that supports overall health during menopause.
Supplementation Advice:
Many women find that certain supplements can be beneficial during menopause, such as vitamin D for bone health or omega-3 fatty acids for heart health. We'll discuss your current supplement regimen (if you have one) and make recommendations on what might be beneficial based on the latest research and your individual needs.
Discuss The Next Steps:
Finally, we'll discuss possible next steps, which could include more in-depth nutritional counselling, further testing or assessments, or a personalized meal and supplement plan.
